Exploding Duracell

Sam and I were testing out the pneumatic cannon using a relatively fresh Duracell 9v, I put the cell in my pocket and we went inside to get something to drink. a Minute or so later we hear a pop sound from the vicinity of my pocket. I immediately though, oh **** the only thing in my pocket that could possibly pop is the battery. Well, as it turns out, that's exactly what happened, luckily for me and my pocket, the cell didn't literally explode and cover me with potassium hydroxide, but one of the sub-cells that make up the 9v had popped out the bottom. Rather pathetic, considering all the "trust Duracell with your life" commercials that they play all the time. Anywho the pic shows it best, I actually ripped off the cardboard on the bottom so you can see the scorch mark on it.
